The families of 23 political prisoners who were killed during the Spanish Civil War gathered to give their relatives a proper burial more than 70 years after the conflict at the Valdenoceda cemetery, near Burgos, northern Spain, on Saturday.

More than 150 prisoners in the Valdenoceda prison died from hunger and cold from 1938 to 1943. The remains, once buried in a mass grave, were exhumed and identified before being returned to their families.
